My holidays

In the holidays I spent most of my time swimming in the luxurious pool at 'Anchorage beach resort' relaxing in the hot hot sun of Fiji islands. For the first time ever I finally relax and have some piece and quite sitting in the shade made by the Fijian fan palm sipping coconut milk from freshly a cut coconut. At night time I sat and watched the sun set and the waves crashing onto shore. I also enjoyed my lovely spa time. Anyway that's how I spent my holidays.Image result for free to use pics of coconuts with a straw

Tekapo camp Y7

On the 9th of august the Y7s went to Tekapo for school camp.
We did lots of activities such as skiing & snow tubing. My favourite was skiing although ice skating was pretty awesome!
I was very excited to share  a cabin with my friends.

Here is me doing some of the activities

Slow writing

Have you ever woken up only to find that your greedy sibling has gobbled up all of your favourite cereal?
That's me today.
Although we usually have the cupboards stacked full of 'Bugs in mud', for some reason the shop had just ran out.
I was just walking into the kitchen, like I always do only to find an empty box just sitting there!.
Utterly revolting! My sister can be a real pain in the backside.
"Try sharing with your sweet lovely sister!" is what I said before marching out the door.

Kidnapped

No one in the town could deny that on nights like this one, with the moon at its fullest, pets and small farm animals went missing.

The night howled like a pack of wolves, trash cans spread across the rough roads. The moon shone down on the streets not leaving anything dark, it's face was so bright and sad.

I could sense something or someone was near. I closed my eyes as tight as I could thinking nothing but scared thoughts. I tried not to imagine who or what was coming.

Footsteps crunched down gravel roads so loudly I could now picture who this creature could be…
I could see in my mind a mysterious shadow with no body. I could feel the breath on the side of my face.

I was so afraid to turn and look at who or what this thing was. I heard a voice that said “you are coming with me”. I was grabbed and shoved into a sack to then be thrown into a dark room...

Watermelon days

Because my big brother Alexander and I haven't been getting along lately, we have been sent to our grandparents retirement village for a week as punishment, and right now I am missing out on the most fun I would ever have down at Raging Rapids, which is a the biggest water park in the world!. But now instead of having fun I am stuck here with my terribly annoying utterly disgusting boring big brother, ‘ugh’.
I thought being at my grandparents house was a punishment but really I don't mind as long as he has a big bowl of watermelon!.

The boy with the bear

Part one
I had just left home a few moments ago right after mum closed the gate behind me saying “have a good day sweetie” , “I will” I replied. I had never been one to have lots of friends, even at preschool I had never had friends not even one. What did I do at preschool? you might ask well let me tell you. It all started when my mum brought me this blue teddy bear for my 1st birthday I named it Suzzie, Suzzie was a girl, well she is sort of like my friend, she doesn’t talk, although I thought I heard Suzzie talk once. I have never parted her since, I have taken Suzzie everywhere.

My parents have been worried sick to the stomach these past few weeks. They have been worried because I am almost a year 6 at mount kookaburra school. I mean I might have one friend but she is imaginary and does not exist.

I walked home after a lonely day of school. As I walked past bullies glared at me like I was something green and gooey that had just flown into a tissue. I have no idea why no one likes me. I mean I might look a little strange carrying around a little blue teddy bear everywhere I go, but to me I don’t care what I look like because everyone is different in unique and special ways.

The day I almost died

As the rusty door creaked open, she held her breath and closed her eyes. Certain that these were the last few minutes of her life, she decided to turn and vanish. She panted as she sloped down the freezing mountain. The air was filled with mist and fog, she couldn't see a thing. She stopped in her tracks. Nowhere to go. She heard the familiar footsteps stamping up the mountain to where she stood. She shuddered at the thought or who or what was coming…
As the footsteps grew louder all she could imagine was a zombie with a mouth full of blood.

Riddles

Q1: What always runs, but never walks, often
murmurs, never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth, but never eats, what am I?.(hint starts with the letter R…)

(please comment your answers)

Q2:I go up and never come down no matter how hard you wish, as I get higher more wrinkles crawl onto your face, what am I?

Q3:I have keys but no locks, I have a space but no room, you can enter but not go outside, What am I?

Q4: What flies when it’s born, lies when it’s alive, and runs when it’s dead, What is it?

Self-defence

All the year 7/8's are learning self defence it is really exiting!. As you can see in the photo we were learning how to kick someones shins, and then we worked our way up to the hips. Overall I really enjoyed that experience and am looking forward to doing it again next week.

Mathletics

Students love learning maths with Mathletics. What is Mathletics, well Mathletics is a helpful tool to help improve maths, such as times tables or division even multiplication. Wow it truly is super fun, you can also play live Mathletics which means you can verse your friends from school. You can choose a level that suits you, and teachers can set up your account, and you get to make your own character. And you can choose the background. I would recommend Mathletics because it has helped me to improve my maths skills.

My amazing adventure

The excitement grew as were driving in the taxi to the cruise port. The cruise ship was larger than you could ever imagine, I could not wait any longer , “Mum, I wonder what the food will be like,” I said, “probably mostly buffets” mum replied. The exit net grew and grew until Ruby and I started giggling and then we were like “OH MY GOSH we are actually going on a cruise!”.
We were all squealing like monkeys at the thought of us chillaxing in the pools livin the luxurious life, mum cocktail in hand, fog horn blowing, ohh yeah… , I need to snap out of this daydream now!. “We are almost there” mum  announced excitedly.
We pulled into the car park at the port and we all piled out of the car grabbed our bags and we were off.
It didn't take long before a lady at the counter said “Please come to number 3”. We then got our cruise ID and went up the escalator up to the boarding tunnel. We were shaking with excitement, our adventure was about to begin.

Rail trail

I was cooking like a sunday roast it was super hot, sweat trickled down my forehead. When we got to lake Forthsythe I was amazed and could not stop looking at the amazing view, it was like a painting, the sun was glittering of the lake  like a disco ball (but… the lake was extremely toxic) and the mountains looked like a patchwork quilt from far away. I chose to be in one of the back groups, if I had chosen to be in one of the front groups, ohh boy, my legs would be on FIRE! .

As the cars went roaring past i could just hear the faint voices of the people ahead “i will catch up to them”,  i thought. We crossed over cattle stop bridges, smooth ones that went across lakes, and just… all sorts of bridges. It was also a bit of a bumpy ride that’s because we were riding on a gravel path. Bikes were speeding past, we could hear the drink bottle holders rattling around.

After lunch we had our final stretch which was 8kms. I was nearly giving up but then the positive part of my brain kicked in and then i got this big boost of energy and then i said to myself “don’t give up Lilly you can do it, you are almost there”, and somehow that managed to get me to the end.

Overall it was a tiring day but i pushed myself to the end , crossed the final bridge “Yay, i am so proud of myself for completing the rail trail!”, i cheered i was overjoyed i had just done 23km, that was from little river to motukarara. maybe … just maybe i will do it again.

Vivid memories - Mums & Dads

My sister and I loved playing mums and dads. It all started 6 years ago when Ruby - (my sister) was finally old enough to play with me. The sun was shining birds were chirping it was a beautiful day, me and Ruby decided to go for a picnic in our front yard. We ran to our rooms grabbed our supplies such as baby dolls, clothes and picnic stuff.
We would charge outside and lay down on the soft grass that lay beneath us. We then laid out a picnic blanket and playdough cakes and cookies. After our meal we would lay down on the grass and giggle and giggle.
It was always fun until someone would shout
“Hey!, you are always the mum!”
“Am not,”
“Are too!,”
“Am not,”
“Are too!!!”
This would go on until Ruby or I , (usually it was me who said this) would say, “fine you can be the mum next time, ok”
“Yes”. That would then make us quietly get back to the game. Most of all we absolutely loved throwing surprise parties for mum, it was a very difficult process but when we finished it looked great!, we would have plastic cups and plates, balloons (although we always seemed to blow them up but then they went flying across the room), it took me a while to realize that we were supposed to tie them up, but i just couldn’t quite get there, we would also put ribbon on the chairs and playdough cakes and cookies, most of the “food” we would make was made out of ether lego or playdough.
I adored playing mums and dads with my little sister Ruby.

Hexagon activity

For inquiry this term we have been focusing on the A+ characteristics. For this activity Lily and I worked together using the adapting strategy. We had to plan and connect to create a hexagon  chart to shows how we grow and this is what we came up with.
